Small Fire and Explosion at Dixon Mobile Home Park Left One Person Injured As Nicor Gas Investigates

DIXON, ILLINOIS (July 1, 2026) – One person was injured in a Dixon explosion at a mobile home park along the 1500 block of Estates Road at Chateau Estates.

Exxon officials are saying that the incident took place around 6 AM on June 22. Dixon fire department officials were called to the scene after getting reports of an explosion at the property.

Firefighters were able to put out the blaze. EMS encountered one person outside of the property with burns to their face and legs.

That man was taken to Dixon Hospital before being airlifted to another hospital in Rockford. Investigators believe there were elevated gas levels in the area that affected 100 residents.

This led to an evacuation of the mobile home park. Nicor Gas said that they are investigating the source of the explosion.
