CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (May 15, 2026) – The CBC group has issued a recall for Stephan Baby Boo Bunnie and Friends Children’s Toys because they can pose a serious injury risk.

The recall was issued on April 30, 2026. Roughly 227,000 units were sold prior to the recall.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the plastic tube inside of the Stephan Baby Boo Bunnie and Friends Children’s Toys can break into small parts with sharp edges.

This creates some real risk that children could ingest the smaller parts and choke or be cut. The CSPC has reportedly received 20 reports of the toys breaking into smaller pieces.

At least one child has reportedly swallowed small pieces. The toys were manufactured in China and sold at various retailers, including Amazon, Walmart, and Target.

Liability for Injuries Involving Children’s Toys

Toy manufacturers have a legal obligation to ensure that all of their products are reasonably safe. They must take into consideration all of the potential ways that a child could use and even misuse one of their products. Among other things, companies must routinely test their products to determine how safe they may be. There are many different ways that a child’s toy could potentially be unsafe.

  • Small Parts: A child’s toy could have small parts that create a choking hazard.
  • Sharp Edges: A child’s toy could have sharp edges or points that could create a laceration hazard.
  • Breakable: Even if a child’s toy does not have small parts or sharp edges, it can still be dangerous if it is likely to break into small pieces that create sharp edges. Safe toys are durable.
  • Long Cords: A child’s toy could have long strings or cords that create a potential strangulation hazard.

If a child’s toy has designed defects that make it inherently unsafe, this could form the basis of a product liability claim. Depending on the facts of any case, a child’s toy could be defective for several other reasons. For example, a child’s toy could have marketing defects if that product fails to adequately warn parents about latent dangers. All toys with small parts should typically contain a choking hazard warning.

Steps to Take After Injuries Caused by Defective Children’s Toys

Many children are harmed every year by toys or other consumer products. According to the Children’s Safety Network, “Between 2015 and 2018, U.S. children and adolescents ages 0-19 sustained over 1 million toy-related injuries that were treated in emergency departments. This infographic provides data on categories of toys involved in injuries and differences in toy-related injures for males and females.” Several steps should be taken after any accident involving a child’s toy.

  • Parents should ensure that their children get medical attention as early as possible.
  • All of the medical records related to treatment should be collected.
  • It should be determined if the toy involved was on any recall lists.
  • Parents should seek the guidance of an experienced product liability attorney.

It could be hard to know where to begin if your child has been injured by a consumer product. Children can be left with life-altering injuries that result in high medical bills. To make matters worse, companies that create toys for children are not inclined to admit that their own products are unsafe. That is why it is so important that accidents involving defective toys are properly investigated by an experienced attorney. An attorney can help determine whether or not the manufacturer could face liability for any specific incident.
