Sunneday Oasis Cottage Above-Ground Pools Recalled Over Drowning Hazard

Recall Issued for Sunneday Oasis Cottage Above-Ground Pool Models 70018 and 70024 Due to Injury and Drowning Risk

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (February 15, 2026)—A recall was issued for the Sunneday Oasis Cottage Above-Ground Pools because they can pose a serious drowning hazard for young children.

The recall was issued on January 29, 2026. Roughly 2,390 units were sold prior to the recall.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the compression straps that surround the outer portion of the pools can act as footholds. This may allow a young child unauthorized access into the pool, thereby creating a drowning risk.

No injuries have been reported at this time. The Sunday Oasis Cottage Above-Ground Pools were originally manufactured in China.

Liability for Injuries Caused by Above-Ground Pools

Companies that create above-ground pools and other consumer products have a legal obligation to ensure that those products are reasonably safe. They must take into consideration all of the ways that their product could be used. They must also take into consideration who could potentially use their product. It is well understood that children can act in ways that are unpredictable and potentially harmful to themselves. There are many potential defects with an above-ground pool.

  • An above-ground pool may have structural issues that could cause one or more sides to potentially collapse.
  • An above-ground pool could have straps along the center that could act as footholds.
  • An above-ground pool could lack GFCI provides protection and expose users to electrical hazards.
  • An aboveground pool could lack adequate warning labels about latent dangers.

When an above-ground pool has designed defects, this could form the basis of a product liability claim. Design defects are inherent in the way that a product exists in our present before manufactured. Product liability claims are typically pursued as a strict liability offense. In other words, a manufacturer could be liable for a defective product, even if they exercise a great deal of care to prevent harm.

Steps to Take After Being Injured by a Consumer Product

Drowning remains a major cause of preventable injury and death for young children. According to the Children’s Safety Network, “Every year in the US, 3,572 people die from drowning. Nine hundred and forty-five of them are children. Children account for one out of four drowning deaths.” Multiple steps should be taken after any injuries involving an above-ground pool.

  • Victims should seek an immediate medical evaluation.
  • The product that caused the injury should be stored in a secure location where it could not cause further harm.
  • All evidence related to the accident should be collected and preserved.
  • The family of any child injured by an aboveground pool should contact an experienced liability attorney.

The vast majority of accidents involving consumer products are preventable. They tend to involve situations where companies are taking shortcuts in terms of safety. This may include instances where they assemble consumer products with subpar materials. It is important for the victim to understand that they do have legal options. They are able to seek some measure of justice and accountability through a personal injury claim.
