EDWARDSVILLE, ILLINOIS (June 30, 2026) – At least two people were injured in a ceiling collapse accident at Lincoln Middle School in Edwardsville as it was being renovated.

Edwardsville officials are saying that the accident occurred on Tuesday morning. Two people were inside of the school when some portion of the ceiling partially collapsed.

The weight of the debris and ceiling temporarily trapped them. Firefighters and other first responders were called to the scene to help the injured victims.

They were extricated and taken to local area hospitals to receive treatment. Lincoln Middle School was under construction due to renovations at the time the collapse occurred.
