Vive Health Issues Recall for Its Portable Bed Rails (Model LVA1024) Due to Entrapment and Asphyxiation Hazards

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (March 17, 2026) – A recall has been issued for the Vive Health Bed Rail Model LVA1024 because it can pose a serious risk of injury or death to consumers.
A recall was issued on February 19, 2026. Roughly 12,355 units were sold prior to the recall.

Moreover, the bed rails lack recognized hazard warning labels. They also violate mandatory safety standards for adult portable bed rails.
No injuries have been reported at this time.
Liability for Injuries Involving Adult Portable Bed Rails
Companies that make adult portable bed rails have a legal obligation to ensure they’re reasonably safe. They must rigorously test their products in all of the ways that they would likely be used and even misused. They must also abide by all mandatory safety standards. Several elements must be demonstrated in any privacy case of product liability.
- The defendant sold a product that the plaintiff used.
- The defendant was the commercial seller of the product.
- The plaintiff suffered an injury through their use of the product.
- The product was defective when the defendant sold it.
- The defect was the actual approximate cause of the plaintiff’s injury.
When a company creates a defective product, they could be held responsible for a product liability claim. There are many different ways a product could be defective. A product may be defective if it is likely to injure consumers due to some issue with the way it was designed. A product could also be defective if it lacked appropriate warning labels.
Steps to Take After Being Injured by Adult Portable Bed Rails
Injuries and deaths involving adult, portable bed rails remain an all too common occurrence. According to National Public Radio, “The commission also estimates that some 196,848 people were injured by adult portable bed rails between 2003 and 2019 — an average of about 11,579 people per year.” Multiple actions should be taken after any injury involving adult portable bed rails.
- All medical records related to injuries should be preserved.
- The defective product should be stored in a secure location.
- It should be determined if the product involved was on any recall lists.
- Victims should seek the guidance of an experienced product liability attorney.
Accidents involving adult portable bed rails are often highly preventable. They tend to be the result of product manufacturers that take safety shortcuts. Liability for these accidents could also extend to other parties. This includes medical institutions like nursing homes that routinely use adult portable bed rails. A nurse or some other employee may have installed the bed rails improperly, thereby allowing them to become a hazard.
