Weber Issues Recall for 3.2 Million Metal Wire Bristle Grill Brushes (Model 6277) Over Serious Injury Hazard

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (March 31, 2026) – Weber has issued a recall for its Metal Wire Bristle Grill Brushes because they can pose a major ingestion hazard.
The recall was issued on February 26, 2026. Roughly 3.2 million units were sold prior to the recall.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the metal wire bristles on the brush can inadvertently detach and stick into the grill or food. This creates the real risk that people could potentially ingest the bristles.
Ingestion of the metal bristles could cause serious internal injuries that may require surgery. Weber has become aware of at least 38 reports where small wire bristles detached from the grill brushes.
This includes four separate instances where a consumer swallowed the metal bristles and required medical treatment to remove them.
The Weber Model Number 6277 Grill Brushes were manufactured in China and could be purchased at several retailers, including Lowe’s, Home Depot, and Target.
Liability for Injuries Caused by Consumer Products
Product manufacturers have a responsibility to ensure their products are reasonably safe. They could be liable for any accident involving their product if it was the result of a defect. This includes manufacturing defects, design defects, or inadequate warnings. However, in many different instances, an injured consumer may not need to demonstrate fault under a strict liability claim. They will need to demonstrate a few basic elements.
- The defendant sold the product that was used by the plaintiff.
- The defendant was the commercial seller of the product.
- The plaintiff sustained injury through their use of the product.
- The product was defective at the time it was sold to the plaintiff.
- The defect with the product was the actual and proximate cause of the plaintiff’s injury.
Several factors could contribute to any product being defective. In many cases, companies may choose to use subpar materials to construct their products. These materials could cause the product to break in unexpected ways. Companies may also choose to forgo testing. Testing is an important part of manufacturing safe products because it can help reveal flaws and latent defects that may not otherwise be obvious.
Steps to Take After Injuries Caused by Consumer Products
Defective consumer products remain a leading cause of preventable injury in the United States. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, “In 2024, 15.1 million people were treated in emergency departments for injuries resulting from consumer products. Most of the injuries involve everyday products often assumed to be safe. Many of these injuries occur to our most vulnerable populations, older adults and young children.” Multiple actions should be taken after any injury caused by a consumer product.
- Victims should seek medical care as soon as possible. Even if an injury seems relatively minor, it may turn out to be more serious upon close inspection.
- The product that was involved in the injury should be stored in a secure location where it is not likely to cause additional harm.
- It should be determined if the product was compliant with all safety requirements for its category type.
- Victims should consider their legal options with a team experienced in product liability law.
Product liability claims allow injured parties to recover damages associated with the accident that harmed them. This can include lost wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering. Unfortunately, product manufacturers will virtually never accept responsibility if one of their products caused an injury. They may also try to downplay the severity of the victim’s injuries. This is why it is so important for victims to consider their legal options with a team experienced in product liability law.
