I was Hit in the Head by a Moving Propeller

Question:

I was struck in the head by a moving propeller while on the job. I was hospitalized for 4 days. I had a normal CT scan and MRI. Since the accident I have suffered extreme migraines, battled bouts of depression and suffer from acute anxiety. I have been on anti-depressants since the accident, along with neurological visits and psychiatric treatment for the depression/anxiety. I have never had these problems previously.
This took place in Yuma, AZ. I’m very impressed with your site, and hope you can help us. Doctors have not said if these symptoms of PTSD will subside. They say with a head injury it’s hard to pinpoint when or if the headaches, depression and anxiety will ever go away. Please let me know if you can help us.

Answer:

Kelly: What a horrifying mode of injury. To get struck by an airplane propeller is as terrifying as it gets. The first thing you need to have is an outstanding neuro-psychologist or neurologist or similar doctor who specializes in treating post-traumatic stress and head injuries. Search hard. Find someone in your area who has published literature on the subject. The Internet is a good place to search.
I wish we could fight for you. I can feel the terror of this accident just as I sit here. Unfortunately, our practice is limited to Illinois. Find a great WC lawyer in your area. Like a great head injury physician, you want to do a careful search to find a highly experienced aviation accident lawyer.
