About Horwitz, Horwitz & Associates

Horwitz, Horwitz & Associates is a renowned trial law firm with offices in Chicago, Illinois and Joliet, Illinois. The Horwitz family continues a tradition begun by grandfather, Jacob W. Horwitz, and then his son, Andrew J. Horwitz, representing individuals in Illinois against corporate wrongdoers and insurance companies who routinely take advantage of those who have been injured.
Clifford and Mitchell Horwitz are third generation personal injury trial lawyers. Clifford leads the common law department at Horwitz, Horwitz & Associates while Mitchell heads the workers compensation department.
Mitchell W. Horwitz was recently selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America in addition to being selected by his peers to LeadingLawyers Top 10 Workers Compensation Lawyers in Illinios. Mitch has handled thousands of cases from arbitration through the appellate courts, including a number of high profile cases in the workers’ compensation legal community.
Clifford W. Horwitz was recently selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America. Over the course of his career, Cliff has managed to secure many record-setting jury verdicts – including what was the largest verdict for compensatory non-death in Illinois (second largest in the U.S.). The $64 million verdict was awarded on behalf of an injured iron worker who fell on a job-site, and was left paralyzed. In addition to the largest personal injury verdict, Cliff has won what was the largest jury verdict for a back injury, the largest jury verdict for a brain injury, the largest jury verdict for a neck injury, the largest jury verdict for a spinal cord injury, the largest jury verdict for a hand injury, and the largest jury verdict for a CRPS injury.
Marc A. Perper was recently selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America. Hundreds, if not thousands, of working Illinois workers will benefit from workers compensation attorney, Marc Perper. In 2010, Marc convinced the Supreme Court of Illinois to reverse an appellate court decision that proved unfavorable to injured workers in Illinois. The Supreme Court agreed with Perper that when an employer fires an employee while the employee is on temporary light duty, regardless of whether the firing is for ’cause’ – the employer must reinstate weekly disability benefits.
Wayne L. Newman was recently selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America. Wayne is a past president of the Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association (WCLA). In addition to peers, members of the news media recognize his authority in the field of workers’ compensation. Most notably, the Wall Street Journal’s magazine, SmartMoney, interviewed Wayne on why many professionals who decide not to file workers’ compensation claims eventually regret that decision.
Mark Weissburg was recently selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America. Mark authored the book, “How to Win a Workers’ Compensation Claim in Illinois.” The book provides useful insight into the secrets that insurance adjusters do not want you knowing, the three basic rights you have under the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Act, amendments to the Act, reg flags, and many more tips.
The team of eight partners and eight associate attorneys continue to expand Horwitz, Horwitz & Associate’s legacy of successful litigation that few firms can claim. But their distinction is more than legacy of record-setting verdicts or peer acclaim. It is found in the satisfaction of thousands of clients. They have recovered more than $1 billion in verdicts and settlements for hardworking families throughout the state of Illinois.
