Wayne L. Newman
The Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association (WCLA) installed Wayne as its 2011 President in January 2011. WCLA consists of more than 500 workers’ compensation attorneys from both sides of the Bar. The association promotes professionalism and provides many continuing legal education opportunities throughout the year.
During his practice, Wayne has found that the insurance industry is crowded with many cynical individuals who think every injured person is simply trying to milk the system. While a very tiny minority may be less than truthful, the vast majority are hard-working individuals who have suffered legitimate injuries. Horwitz, Horwitz & Associates provides these people with their only protection against often unfair and cold-hearted treatment by insurance companies. The firm values this trust and embraces this responsibility.
Primary Practice Focus
Wayne Newman enjoys battling large insurance companies on behalf of injured workers. Wayne focuses entirely on workers’ compensation law, and he oversees the workers’ compensation group at Horwitz, Horwitz & Associates, where he has practiced since 1989. Over the course of his career, Wayne has resolved thousands of cases and obtained more than $40 million for his clients.
As a spokesperson for Horwitz, Horwitz & Associates, Wayne travels across Illinois educating union workers about their rights under the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Act. Members of the news media have recognized his authority in the field. In an article in Smart Money magazine, Wayne discussed why many professionals who decide not to file workers’ compensation claims eventually regret that decision later.
During his time as a law student, Wayne interned for Illinois Attorney General Neil F. Hartigan, and also volunteered for the law school’s legal aid group.
